Sustainable procurement is fast becoming a big issue for business, but what does it really mean? Could it reduce costs and make a difference to your performance?
From stationery to machinery, every organisation procures goods and services and sustainable procurement is a topic that is relevant to all sectors and business types. This seminar will look at the business benefits of making more informed and sustainable choices when buying and how sustainable procurement can contribute to the environmental performance of your business.
Speakers
Lorna Peacock, Sustainable Procurement Project Manager, CO2Sense Yorkshire Lorna is responsible for the development and delivery of sustainable procurement projects at CO2Sense Yorkshire, including the Buy Recycled initiative, which helped the public and private sector in the region to increase their procurement of recycled content products. Lorna will be speaking about the business benefits of sustainable procurement and introducing the region’s first Green Product and Service Guide.
Jimmy Brannigan, Director, ESD Consulting Jimmy specialises in advising private and public sector organisations on sustainable development solutions and since 2005 has worked worldwide on the design and delivery of WWF’s One Planet Leaders programme for business managers. In this session Jimmy will be sharing his experience and providing practical guidance on key approaches for implementing sustainable procurement.
Sharon Ward, Corporate Responsibility Manager, Logistik Logistik is an award-winning design and communications agency based in Leeds. Sharon will be talking about their approach to sustainable procurement and how this has supported their ongoing work in educating and engaging colleagues, clients and suppliers in creating a sustainable commercial culture.
Kristina Peat, Sustainability Manager, North Yorkshire County Council The public sector has a key role in furthering sustainable development through its procurement of buildings, goods and services. Kristina will be talking about the drivers for the county council to procure sustainably and how they are working with suppliers to improve sustainability in the supply chain.
